The first-ever Brazilian Va’a National Championship or “Campeonato Brasileiro de Va’a” to take place in the North-East made history last weekend in Salvador, Bahia, delivering an unforgettable spectacle of speed, endurance, and team spirit. With record participation, ideal race conditions, and a vibrant atmosphere, the event set a new benchmark for the growth of Va’a in Brazil.
Paddlers from across the country came together to compete at the highest level, showcasing their talent in a series of thrilling long distance or “Maratona” races, crowning V1, V3, V1R (the R stands for “Rudder” as in V1 and V2 with Rudder, basically OC1 and OC2). The championship not only highlighted Brazil’s increasing passion for Va’a but also reinforced the country’s position as a rising force in the international paddling scene.
