The 2026 VIBE – Volta a Ilhabela marks the 10th edition of Brazil’s most iconic 90 km ocean paddling journey. Encircling the breathtaking island of Ilhabela, in the state of São Paulo, athletes face the open Atlantic, rugged coastlines, hidden beaches, and one of the most symbolic points of the course—the resting place of the legendary Príncipe de Asturias. Guided by the spirit of the event’s motto, “Where the giants rest, heroes paddle,” every stroke becomes part of a decade-long legacy built on courage, endurance, and respect for the sea. Whether you come to compete, conquer a personal dream, or simply experience one of the world’s most extraordinary paddling adventures, VIBE 2026 is where legends continue to be written.

From the challenges, emotions, and achievements of previous editions to the athletes who have helped shape this journey, each chapter has contributed to the legacy of the Volta a Ilhabela. Getting to Ilhabela (São Paulo, Brazil)

  • By air:

The closest airports are:

  1. São Paulo–Guarulhos International Airport (GRU): the main gateway for international and domestic flights (approximately 3.5–4.5 hours by car to São Sebastião, depending on traffic).
  2. São José dos Campos Airport (SJK): a closer option (approximately 2–3 hours by car), with limited flight connections.
  3. São Paulo–Congonhas Airport (CGH): another domestic option, located in São Paulo city (approximately 3.5–4.5 hours by car).
  • Ground transportation:

From the airport, continue by:

Private transfer, rental car, taxi, or bus to São Sebastião, the mainland town directly opposite Ilhabela.

The drive follows the scenic coastal route through the Serra do Mar mountains.

  • Boat crossing to Ilhabela:

From São Sebastião, access Ilhabela via the official ferry crossing.

The crossing takes approximately 15–20 minutes.

Ferries operate regularly and transport both passengers and vehicles.

Pedestrians can cross without a vehicle and continue by taxi or local transport on the island.

Travel tip: During holidays and peak seasons, allow extra time for traffic and possible ferry queues. Booking transfers in advance is recommended for groups and events.
