The world’s best ocean racers are heading to La Vila Joiosa, Spain, for the 2026 Surfski World Championships.

Taking place from 9 to 11 October, the championships will bring together hundreds of paddlers from around the world for three days of high-level surfski racing on the Mediterranean coast.

Thursday, 8 October

Opening Day

The official championship programme begins with the opening activities in La Vila Joiosa.

  • 18:00 – Flag Parade
  • Opening Ceremony – La Vila Joiosa

The city is welcoming athletes from 39 countries, with approximately 810 paddlers registered for the championship.

Friday, 9 October

SS1 – Singles

The first day of World Championship racing features the SS1 surfski singles categories.

Race start: 13:00 local time
