WHO
While the world’s best Ocean Racing (Surfski) male and female paddlers will be competing for World Championship titles in senior, U23, junior and masters age groups, hundreds of other paddlers will be enjoying the superb surfski conditions off the Durban coastline in a week-long series of events.

WHAT
The 2025 ICF Canoe Ocean Racing World Champs. There will be events for SS1 (surfski single) and SS2 (surfski double). World Championship medals will be awarded for SS1 and mixed SS2 in relevant age categories. There will also be other associated events both on and off the water.

WHERE
Racing on both days will start at the Durban Undersea Club (DUC). Paddlers will paddle to Amanzimtoti (28km – north-east wind), or Westbrook Beach (34km – south west). In very light wind conditions, the provisional course will be from DUC to Umhlanga and back. In slightly extreme conditions, an inshore triangular course may be considered. In unsafe conditions, a Durban Harbour Course will be used.

WHEN
Dependent on wind and surf conditions, racing will be held within a three-day race window, from Friday October 17, to Sunday October 19, with the SS1 category taking preference. If all 3 days have good conditions, the SS1 will be held on Friday, the SS2 on the Saturday and a lifesaving race on the Sunday.
